Guide for Quitting Smoking Cigarettes
Most smokers are afraid that they can’t quit, that cigarettes are more powerful than they are. Actually this is fear from the fear, because if you are still smoking, how can you know that it’s hard without cigarettes? This is a result from your habit that is controlling you so much that it won’t allow you to imagine how life can look like without smoking.
This point brings another question or excuse of yours. I love smoking; I love the ritual, etc. This is partially true, you love the time spent with yourself in that moment. But the cigarette will burn after two minutes, so why light it in the first place? She’ll burn but the pleasure will only last for two minutes. It will last for two minutes and only two minutes. No more. This conditioning will continue until you are brave enough to interrupt this pattern.
First thing you have to do is to hate that you’re controlled. How can you be a free human being, when someone or something controls you? This should be the first milestone for you. The rest are simply techniques that will help you substitute the smoking habit.
You can’t stop smoking without thinking and trying to implement a non-smoker habit.
After you are sure that you understand this, and only after you’re sure, follow these instructions:
• If you can hold out without smoking for only one minute, don’t you think that you can do it in the next minute? Sure you can. You should battle the craving by the minute. It is a much shorter time period to fight your battle and win. This makes the war all that much easier.
• Your first trigger occurs at a point where the body is conditioned to enjoy a cigarette along with a drink or after a meal, etc. These triggers will last for a maximum of 5 minutes. During these 5 minutes your entire body will convince you that it is okay to light a cigarette, which you have reason and it will come up with so many excuses that it will be hard for you to say no.
• Second, as I mentioned in the secret for becoming a non-smoker, you should not involve yourself in your personal fight with the habit. You can’t win your habit in this way, because there will be a period when you’re feeling “down” and that will be a good enough reason for lighting a cigarette.
• You should also be aware that you’ll be very confused in the first 3 days and this is normal and you should accept it. This is the period where your brain is forcing you to light a cigarette and attempts to convince you with what may seem “reasonable” excuses. Since you programmed your brain to feel pleasure whenever you light a cigarette, it is now telling you that something might be wrong without a cigarette or that something might be missing from your life.
Your brain is like a big and mighty ship, but you’re the captain, and it will follow your navigation orders, but needs time to take the right course. There is also wind that is blowing your ship in different directions, and there is still a force that is pushing the ship towards the old navigation commands. Don’t forget the power that you as a captain posses, you can change the course of your ship in any direction you want.
By my experience you’ll need only 3 days to start feeling like a non-smoker.
• Another very helpful thing is to try to help some of your friends who are smokers. Try telling them about this techniques and theories and check their opinion. You can make some kind of pact, trying to work together to beat this habit. At the bottom of every post there is a link labeled “Tell a friend!”. Use this link to forward this message and at least remind your friends that they can quit. This can be very stimulating for you and your strength to quit smoking.
The Key to Quit Smoking
From many of the well known methods on how to quit smoking, I will share with you the biggest discovery that will make you feel powerful enough to start the process of becoming a nonsmoker. This discovery will power you up day after day. You will enjoy the process and finally experience how easy life can be as a nonsmoker.
Let’s see an example: If you have ever tried to quit smoking in the past, what event or events caused you to smoke again? Think and observe the details of your brain. 15 minutes after “the last cigarette” you say to yourself, “I can do this.” After 2 hours you say, “I don’t know what’s happening; should I feel something?” After 2 1/2 hours you say, “What will I do now?” “Should I eat something?” “I have to do something, maybe just this one last cigarette.” Or you say, “Maybe I’m not prepared as I should be… Maybe God Himself should come and personally tell me directly in my face that now is the time?” Well maybe you will see Him, and maybe you are the one that is going to visit Him. Rest assured that this is a normal way of thinking. Some people have been “trying to quit” for decades and they are a testament that quitting is hard.
Well here is the discovery: It is hard for every smoker quit because they are constantly thinking about smoking. After they “decide” to stop, all sorts of smoking related thoughts arise that they try to overcome, to beat somehow. When they fail, they end up lighting cigarette again. If you want to quit you don’t need a 7 day or 21 day program. You need to start thinking as non-smokers do. Do they think about smoking? NO. All you have to do is not get involved in your personal conversation with yourself. When you notice that your brilliant brain start doing its job (thinking), you, in response, start doing your job and immediately change the focus. Simply change the subject. Thinking like a non-smoker is the only way to become a non-smoker.
The other self-help methods do have some helpful tips. However, if you start counting how many years, months, and days and hours you are free from nicotine, I assure you that there will come a time in your life when you will stop counting and start smoking again. The cure is to think and feel like a non-smoker.
THE reason for smoking cigarettes
The point is that you can choose to link pleasure to whatever you want to.
If someone beats you, and succeeds in convincing you that this is an act of love, your brain will link pleasure to this situation and you know what’s next right :). It is the same thing with every behavior we tend to repeat. This is how the habit is created. The good news is that your brain is very powerful machine but you’ll have to learn to control it.
I’ve came to this conclusion before I quit smoking, and this thought start bothering me. I was not satisfied with myself after this conclusion, and from this perspective I believe this was the turning point for me. Suddenly I started to notice every little excuse I gave to myself, and how was I conditioned to smoking. Day after day I became more and more aware of the excuses that were in charge and rule over me. Very soon I start to research and begin to imagine how life would look like without a cigarette. It takes me more than a year to link that non-smoking is very COOL!
Now I’m a non-smoker, and I enjoy every second of more conscious “me”. I also enjoy that I can choose why, when and how can I feel in every moment.
This inspired me on something else, do you know that there is one big advantage that every smoker have over a non-smoker. Sounds stupid I know, but it’s true. The fact that you are a smoker now can be a big turning point for your entire life, imagine how much momentum you’ll gain for every other aspect in your life, if you succeed in quitting cigarettes. You’ll be more motivated and strong for every job in the future, because you quit this smoking habit, you are in charge now and in the future. You’ll believe in yourself more, and you’ll like yourself more. Isn’t this the essence of a good life?
I Like Smoking Cigarettes ???
This is a great way to understand why we are smoking… Let’s try to define what is beautiful in smoking. Then we will try to understand the real reasons, and find out our excuses. I believe that this will help research our habit in a more profound way, and give us a new perspective on our being, our emotions, our own programming and conditioning, which on the long run surely will produce great results.
Be 100 % sure that results will come after researching and trying to quit smoking. The only unknown thing is how long it will take for you to make that little “click” when you will really decide that it’s enough. But you have to make that first step, to start research and trying to quit smoking.
I believe that there is some pleasure in smoking, mainly pleasure in enjoying with me alone. For example I can work and enjoy, I can relax when I want to, because the trigger in my brain tells me that I can feel relaxed with my cigarette, I can easily program my brain to feel pleasure whenever I want to. Wow, this sound like cigarettes are nice hobby that everyone wants to have it. However, the truth is that you’re killing yourself, so in a way you are shorting your pleasure in the long run. There is also the question of freedom, which tells us that there can be no free man or woman who is controlled by some habit.
So, what do you think? What is interesting in smoking cigarettes? Why do smokers smoke? Is there anything beautiful in puffing? What are the good feelings? What do non-smokers missing to experience and enjoy?
I’m expecting all smart people to give there opinion. These are hard questions, so try to give your best, and don’t be afraid to be honest that’s not good for you.
Is Nicotine replacement therapy right for me?
Nicotine replacement therapy is intended to give your body a low dose of nicotine to help cut back the cravings. Your withdrawal symptoms will not be as severe since small amounts will be put into your system. However nicotine replacement therapy will cause your system to go through withdrawals twice. The first time when you initially quit smoking and the second time when you stop the nicotine replacement therapy. You do not need to go to a doctor to get it.
This can be difficult for many people, especially if its the second time around. You'll go through a milder form of withdrawals as that familiar edgy feeling comes back. You're never prepared for that second wave of withdrawal and frequently have a hard time stopping the nicotine replacement therapy. Those that are able to move on are closer to becoming smoke free.
There are several types of nicotine replacement therapy; the most common option used is the patch. Normally you start with a higher dose and gradually work your way down over a 6 to 12 week timeframe. One of the things that should be noted, is the amount of nicotine delivered over the 24 hours is often too much for the body to handle and side effects are very common.
Nausea and cold sweats is a common side effect of the patch. This can be an indication that the dose is to high for your system and you can try a lower dose the next day. It might be a good idea to look into another form of nicotine replacement therapy. Many people have had great success with the patch, but since the human body's chemistry varies from person to person not everyones body is able to adapt to the patch.
Nicotine replacement therapy comes in various forms, things have come a long way from just being a patch. Another form is nicotine gum, which has improved in taste over the years, you no longer have the pepper taste that would linger in your mouth. Now nicotine gum comes in fruit flavors that you can chew without feeling sick. You can control the dosage according to your own withdrawal symptoms.
Another therapy option is the nicotine lozenge, which you can find in a number of flavors. It delivers a low dose of nicotine to your system as it slowly dissolves in your mouth. You are in control of the dosage which you can adjust according to your withdrawals. Normally you can allow 2 to 4 hours in between tablets. You will experience some type of secondary withdrawal symptoms when you wean yourself off of them, but it's worth it when you know that in the end you can be smoke free.
Now if find yourself needing something in your hand then you can look to the nicotine inhaler to help curb that desire. This too will release a low dose of nicotine which you inhale through this device. I have never tried this myself but I have talked to several people who had success with it.
There are nicotine replacement options available without a prescription and readily accessible at any corner drugstore or supermarket. You will still have to expect to pay quite a bit for over the counter therapy. But many of the products provide online support and forums, which help keep you in touch with other people who are trying to quit smoking.
As mentioned before, some of the side effects of nicotine replacement therapy can range from: a slight headache, insomnia, to more severe symptoms such as nausea, diarrhea or constipation. Some of the side effects tend to be temporary, if they are too much you may want to think about changing your dose or about looking into other smoking cessation options, such as non- nicotine based medication.
Don't Just 'Try' to Quit Smoking
'Try' is a very weak word. Just ask any coach or personal trainer. They'll both tell you that you won't get very far by just trying. You have to commit. Without a totally committed level of thinking, it becomes very difficult to be successful. The same goes for quitting smoking.
Whether it is using the 'try' word when convincing yourself to quit or when talking to your friends and family, I have to warn you, don't do it. You are doing yourself a disservice and potentially setting yourself up for failure.
Let me give you an example. My wife has a fear of roller coasters and fast rides. I know she doesn't haven't a fear or heights or a fear of going at the speeds the coasters go, but for some reason I have not yet been able to determine, she doesn't like roller coasters.
And during the rare times my son and I have been persuasive enough to get her into the line, it is always tempered with 'I'll try'. This gives her the opportunity to reneg on her offer without too much teasing. And she always does.
So how does she get out of it and still feel good about herself? Because she only said she would 'try' and that doesn't really count. The same goes when you are the path to becoming a non-smoker. By only trying, you are leaving yourself an easy exit down the road. And this isn't something you want to do.
Track down all the smokers you know who have attempted to quit and I think you'll be surprised to find that most of them will say that they 'tried'. And not only that if you ask if they have further plans to quit, you'll hear 'Oh sure, I'll try again.'
So what you need to do if you are to commit is remove the word 'try' completely. Use a statement like this. 'I am going to quit to better my health. For the betterment of my family. For the betterment of my finances. No exceptions.' Can you see the difference? You must state the exact reasons for why you want to quit. With no allowances for weakness or failure.
If you want to hold yourself accountable to your goal of becoming a non-smoker, then you MUST put statements like this onto paper. And then you MUST place these pieces of paper where you can see them often so that you never lose sight of your ultimate goal.
Handling Relapses in the Quit Smoking Process
Though it is wise to be prepared for all kinds of difficulties, it is equally important to have a positive attitude to keep up your spirits and strengthen your resolve to quit smoking. As the old adage goes ‘Hope for the best and be prepared for the worst.’ You should be aware of the pitfalls but don’t wait for them. Cross the bridge when you come to it. So, in a sense, talking about the possibility of relapses while trying to quit smoking is almost inviting them.
The moral of the story is that if you think of handling 'slips', 'just ones' or any 'accidents' for that matter, you are going to have them. So, don’t plan for slips; you probably won’t allow them. The thought itself is a great morale booster. So, think positive, and cross the bridge when you come to it. On the contrary, planning for moments of weakness demoralizes you quite a bit.
However, it is equally foolish to delude yourself that you cannot go wrong. So, when the slip does happen, chastise yourself until you feel completely guilty. Let the guilt go deep down so that it becomes a loud resisting voice when temptation strikes again. It is for this reason that support groups are recommended. They help you regain strength to overcome such hurdles.
If by chance you have had more than one 'slip' or have repeated 'slips', it is time to be honest with yourself. I know that a lot of people are going to disagree with me on this, but please don't send me any letters because I have probably spoken to more smokers and non-smokers about this subject than most people. My advice is this. Stop trying to fool yourself into thinking that these occasional slips are fine and are just part of the normal quitting process - they aren't!
If you are continually 'slipping' you are doing yourself more harm than good because the 'just ones' are eventually going to turn into what you used to smoke or more. Believe me, it happens every time.
If continual slips are occurring, you are better off to realize what is happening and admit to yourself that you have failed this time. And that's okay, because it is better that you admit it, write this attempt off, and go back to finding the information and incentives you need to quit successfully than to relapse slowly back into oblivion. Better to realize that you have missed your target this time around and get back on a new and better course than to continue on smoking for the next twenty years.
Have the mental strength to be successful.
THE END OF ADDICTION
Over and over again I have been asked about the subject of addiction. Is it possible to ‘cure’ an addiction? I submit that it is. I know, I know. I am going to get beaten up mightily over a statement such as this. But let us look at a few facts.
It is first vital to understand that your thoughts create your reality. This is common sense.
If you can control your thoughts, you can control your personal reality. More common sense.
Now, humans are capable of only so much. They can communicate. They act. They feel. They believe. They decide.
It is a fact that your communication stems from your thought. Control your thought and you will control your communication.
Your feelings stem from your thought. Control your thought and you will control your feelings.
Your beliefs derive from your thought patterns. Control your thought and you will control your beliefs.
Your decisions are formed from your thoughts. Control your thought and you will control your decisions.
Your actions stem from your thoughts. Control your thoughts and you can control your actions.
In short, you can control everything you personally experience by rearranging your thoughts. This should be of paramount importance to you, if you wish to find peace, joy and happiness. For you CHOOSE everything you say, do, feel, believe and decide. You are responsible, at some level, for all of it. Notice that I said at some level.
This holds true in every respect. If you ‘feel’ bad, you have chosen to accept the thoughts that create this feeling. If you act poorly, you have chosen to accept the thoughts that allow this. Etc. Etc. You get the idea. But here is an even more important concept:
You are not necessarily in charge of this process at a conscious level! The process of choosing a thought does not have to be conscious. As a matter of fact, the conscious level is the much smaller part of your mind.
Everything that happens within the body is the result of a mind process. Now, you do not have to remember to breathe, do you? Yet you breathe without thinking about it. Why?
You do not have to remember to make your heart beat, do you? Yet your heart beats, does it not? Why? Your kidneys and liver function. You sweat.
This happens because the mind, at a level YOU ARE NOT AWARE OF, causes these processes to take place. This simply means there is a level of mind which functions without your knowledge. This is called the subconscious (below the threshold of awareness) level of mind.
We know this. Our senses are bombarded with literally thousands of bits of sight impressions, sound impressions, tastes, smells and physical sensations each and every minute. If we were to become consciously aware of all of these at once, we would most likely go mad! If you are sitting down while reading this, have you noticed the pressure on your backside? The taste in your mouth? The feeling in your hands? The sounds in the room?
No. These are filtered out so that you may pay attention to these written words. But who, or more appropriately what, decided what should be filtered? And why?
The subconscious decided. On its own. Based on past experience.
If you are addicted to anything, you have chosen the thoughts that will allow this. But perhaps you did not do this CONSCIOUSLY. It could be that it was chosen outside of your sphere of awareness by your SUBCONSCIOUS mind.
The mind is totally responsible for every process in the body and every mental perception you hold. If you can accept this now, this will save you completely from any negative mental state, including addiction of any kind.
You believe you are at the mercy of your thoughts, for it appears as though you cannot control what seems to come to you. But you can. For, what often comes to you, is simply a choice made FOR you BY your subconscious mind. This process is not out of your control; it is simply out of your awareness. Your subconscious, the gatekeeper of your mind, chooses what shall be allowed to pass.
Controlling your experience can be accomplished quite easily, if you learn how the subconscious minds makes ITS decisions.
This brings us to the study of hedonics. The subconscious mind has sometimes been called the reptilian mind. This part of mind is concerned with but a few things:
-Survival
-Creating Pleasure
-Avoiding Pain
But here, for now, we are speaking specifically in regards to addiction. The following concepts hold true for any kind of addiction; alcohol, drugs, overeating, sex, gambling, whatever one might imagine.
This base part of mind loves pleasurable feelings. Seldom does one pick up a drink, a drug, a donut or a horse-racing form without the full expectation of gaining pleasure from the act! Think about it. Would you swallow that vile tasting, throat-burning concoction in the shot glass lest it bring you some form of pleasure? Would you choke on the smoke of a marijuana joint if you gained nothing from it save a smoky, smelly burning sensation? Would you eat a dozen donuts if they each tasted like sand?
No. Your base mind, the mind with a mind of its own, expects pleasure from these things. Now, CONSCIOUSLY, you may know these things will bring you great harm. You even decide not to participate in these activities anymore. But the SUBCONSCIOUS overrides your common sense, in the interest of the pleasure they bring, and then presents you with the dreaded – craving.
Now you are smack in the middle of a terrible war; a war with your own mind. You know you shouldn’t. But you want to. But you know you shouldn’t. But you want to.
Back and forth, back and forth you go. Fighting but yourself. The sad part? Your subconscious will often win. And you will lose.
This is because the subconscious is relentless. It will not give it up. It MUST have the object of the craving. And, in many cases, it is quite simply stronger than the part of you that knows better.
This is quite simple. Psychology 101. Nothing new here.
From this point on, I will speak specifically to substance abuse. I will lump alcohol, any type of drug, or any type of physical substance under the heading of ‘drug‘. A drug is a drug, as they say.
Anyone can be detoxed from any drug. This is a medical process whereby the offending drug is removed from the body of the addicted person. It is a long and often risky MEDICAL procedure that, once accomplished, should be the final step. But for most, it is but the first step. For now, the fight within the mind begins.
The subconscious mind now begins to scream its displeasure. Its favorite toy has been taken away! And so, it literally goes berserk. Like a child denied, it goes on the attack. This is unsettling to some. To others, it can be agonizing.
There are thousands, if not hundreds of thousands of reasons why any particular mind gets addicted to anything. Fear. Guilt. The need to hide. Apathy. Boredom. The need for attention. Whatever. The reason a mind becomes addicted is as varied as the number of people addicted. But the reason WHY the mind became addicted in the first place is not important in this particular discussion. What is important is to understand how devious the base mind can be in regards to getting what IT wants, not what YOU necessarily want.
Minute after minute, hour after hour, day after day it reminds us. It whispers to us. It is unceasing in its attempts to ensnare us. It is relentless in its pursuit of the desired object. And we must now pay the price. We are at the mercy of the thing. It appears to stalk us, jumping out with the desire to use when we least want to experience the desire to use.
Now here is the question: What if we could simply shut off the voice of the base mind? Turn it off like we turn off our televisions or computers? Do away with this monster once and for all? What might happen then?
Quite simply, the struggle would be gone. We would be at peace and would simply be in a recovered state. All of it behind us. No war. No resistance. No fight.
Assuming that one had been medically or otherwise detoxed, without the voice of the baser part of mind, we would, in fact, be completely cured, would we not? Without the goading and prompting of this voice, we would have no desire for the return to the drug whatsoever. The desire would be gone.

Quitting the smoking is a desire that chain smokers wish to come true. It can be possible with the following:
Have confidence: If you can believe yourself then you have already won half of the battle. Try to re- picture your days when you have proved your willpower. The only thing that you need is to boost up your spirits again.

Family is precious for all. Think how much you will save if you quit smoking. It will help you in making new friends who hates smoking and will help you to do the same.

Drink plenty of water everyday. It will help to flush all harmful chemicals out of your body. In addition, it helps to reduce your longings for cigarettes.

Why is quitting smoking so hard?
We all know that many smokers are aware of health risks that come along with smoking cigarettes. We also know that that some of them are seeking support and help for their habit. I don’t want you to understand me as some kind of a guru who is making smart statements on how to quit smoking cold turkey in 15 hours for free. No no. My idea for smoking cigarettes is very similar to yours. You see, I’m aware that smoking is a nice hobby, in fact it’s irreplaceable, it can be your best friend, so why quit smoking anyway?
Smoking cigarettes is part of you, of your personality, of your everyday life. Now let me ask you a question but please think thoroughly. Can you not think of a blue color? Don’t think of a blue color. Just don’t think. Please :).
Why did you imagine a blue color? Because your brain works in pictures. The word don’t, is a concept not a picture. For your brain that word simply doesn’t exist in that thought. In a split second you first imagine the blue color, than an action word, in this case “don’t”.
Your brain work in pictures, and your focus determine your reality. Your focus can be triggered by questions. What type of questions you ask yourself is the way you shape your destiny. If your goal is to quit smoking naturally, than you should focus yourself on the quitting smoking benefits. For example, am I going to breed deeper as a non-smoker? Is my energy level going up or down? How important is my energy level? Am I going to look better, healthier? Am I born with a cigarette?
Maybe some questions are funny but they can help you quit smoking. You have to focus on the other “color”. If you are seeking for natural nicotine patch, this is one way. Stopping smoking cigarettes is a big change in your life; it can trigger a positive momentum which will make you more fulfilled and happier.
Let me guarantee you something, if you are reading this article, you have achieved a lot more than 95% of the smokers who are seeking quitting smoking support. The Deadly Second Hand Smoking
When a person inhales smoke that comes out from the burning of tobacco is known as side stream smoke. On the other hand, when a person inhales smoke while a person is smoking is called the mainstream smoke. Both these types of smoking are called Secondhand smoke or ETS.
Do you know the number of poisonous substances we inhales while a person smokes?
The ETS mainly consist of about 4000 poisonous substances. They make entry into our body and 40 among them can be carcinogens. Whether you are smoking or just inhaling the smoke exhaled by a smoker, it does not matter. The consequences are dangerous and lead to several respiratory problems.
ETS belongs to the class of carcinogens. The amount of carcinogen in ETS is much higher. The cause for high rate of carcinogen in ETS is that it is unfiltered. Thus, active smoker is inhaling lower quantity of carcinogen than the ETS.
There are two main places in cigarette that produces smoke. The tip of the cigarette is the one from where smoke released. Secondly, the hot smoke releases through the cigarette and its filter from the remaining part of the cigarette.
The major portion of ETS incorporates cigarette’s burning tip. It is around 70 to 80 percent of ETS. The major components are nicotine, tar, carbon monoxide and carcinogens. Thus, ETS is more harmful and deadly than the person smoking directly.
There are several hazards of Secondhand smoke. It causes eye irritation, sore throat, dizziness, nausea, headache and cough. Apart from these effects, it also leads to certain long-term illness. The major disease caused by it is the lung cancer. When a non-smoker suffers from a deadly disease like lung cancer it is because of Secondhand.
Based on recent survey, it is found that hospitality workers have more chances of lung cancer. Those workers who are more exposed to secondhand smoke have more chances of acquiring this deadly disease.
